In this how-to we explain how you can safely remove the plastic bezel / frontplate / faceplate from your dvd or blu-ray drive. The plastic bezel is easy to remove but it’s also easy to break one of the clips from the bezel. If you use a small flat screwdriver and follow the steps below you can prevent breaking one of these clips.
If you have any trouble with removing the bezel, please check this video for further instructions.
Step 1: Slighlty open the optical drive and then remove it from the laptop. If you already removed the optical drive from your laptop, you can use a paperclip in the small hole at the front of the bezel to open the tray.
Stap 2: Use a small flat screwdriver and push the right vertical clip inwards and then forwards.
Step 3: The vertical right clip is now from its position but don’t remove the bezel yet.
Step 4: Lay the optical drive upside down. Use a small flat screwdriver and push the left horizontal clip inwards and then forwards.
Step 5: The left horizontal clip is now from its position and the bezel can be easily removed.
Step 6 (final): Put the bezel on your HDD Caddy.
